In May 2009, the Right From The
Start Project (RFTS) celebrated 20 years of providing professional
targeted case management to West Virginia Families. RFTS provides
in-home care coordination services to high risk, low income pregnant
women through the second postpartum month and Medicaid eligible high
risk infants through one year of age. A Statewide training and 20 year
anniversary celebration for RFTS providers, registered nurses and
licensed social workers, was held May 19-20, 2009 in Charleston at the
Embassy Suites. The event began with the presentation of a Proclamation
signed by West Virginia Governor, Joe Manchin, declaring May 2009 as
RFTS Month. The event also honored fallen colleague, Brenda Yeager, LSW
who provided RFTS targeted case management services for 14 years through
First Care Services, Ridgeview, West Virginia. More than 150 RFTS
providers, exhibitors and presenters attended the two day bi-annual
training. For a review of presentations, please see
